30429- LARGE ENGLISH HUDSON BAY DOG-LOCK MARKET PUNT GUN CIRCA EARLY 1800’S. 6’5” overall with 60” smoothbore round .80 caliber barrel with British proofs at the left breech. Original lock with all the original parts. Maker name on lock plate worn and no longer legible. Stock with old brand “P. POWER ST. JOHNS” on right side of butt. Stock forend retained by three old added brass bands with muzzle band missing. Has seen considerable use but has a pleasing original old dark metal patina. Stock in good condition with wear and chip missing forward of lock plate. Lock in working order. Still has an old wood original to the period of use ramrod. Type used in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia for seal hunting and wildfowling usually identified by lack of trigger guard and the “Dog” lock.
